Six crore households gain digital literacy as a result of the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA). Most rural households would benefit from and improve their standard of living with PMGDISHA. This program assists those who lack digital literacy in actively learning IT skills that will enable them to take part in the democratic and developmental processes. This strategy, known as Digital India, intends to turn India into a knowledge economy and society that is empowered by technology.
- Basic computer skills
- Internet use
- E-governance applications
- Financial literacy
- Health and wellness
A network of more than two thousand Common Service Centres (CSCs) spread out over rural India is used to give the training. CSCs are kiosks located at the village level that offer a variety of e-governance and other services to inhabitants.
The PMG DISHA scheme has achieved a great deal of success in achieving its objective of promoting digital literacy in rural India. More than 5.5 crore rural residents had received training through the program as of March 2023.
The scheme has also had a number of positive impacts on rural communities. For example, it has helped to increase access to government services, improve financial literacy, and promote entrepreneurship.
The PMG DISHA scheme is a valuable initiative that is helping to bridge the digital divide in rural India. It is a testament to the government’s commitment to making digital India a reality for all citizens.
